Not for every control method. Compatible local remotes can operate the blinds directly. TaHoma is used when you want connected app control, scenes, remote access and compatible voice integrations.

Can the blinds still be controlled with a handset?

Yes, where a compatible remote is specified. For current Zigbee blind systems, Somfy offers Ysia Zigbee controls, so everyday operation does not have to depend on opening an app.

Can blinds close automatically when the sun is strong?

Compatible sunlight sensors such as Somfy Sunis io can measure light intensity and work with TaHoma scenes to move compatible window coverings when a chosen threshold is reached.

Will smart blinds reduce my heating bill by 30%?

Not necessarily. Somfy publishes an “up to 30%” heating-consumption benchmark for certain automated solar-protection scenarios. Real-world results depend on the home, glazing, orientation, shading product, settings and occupant behaviour, so we do not treat that figure as a guaranteed saving.

Are all Somfy motors as quiet as 44 dB?
