If the room includes both a standard window and wide patio doors, there is no need to force the same product onto both. Matching the colour is often enough.

Large sliding doors

Think about how often you will actually use them.

Carrickvale's specification includes large feature sliding doors leading to the patio. They are one of the areas worth planning separately from the standard windows.

A blind can look perfect when closed and still be frustrating if it gets in the way every time someone goes into the garden.

During the appointment we look at the door width, opening direction, available fixing space and how much shade or privacy you genuinely need.

Everyday access The blind should not become an obstacle every time the door is opened.
Glare Useful if afternoon sun makes the kitchen or dining area uncomfortable.
Privacy Decide whether privacy is only needed in the evening or throughout the day.

Blackout is useful — but only where you actually need it.

Carrickvale's turnkey package includes carpet and underlay to the bedrooms, so the room already has a softer feel before the blind is fitted.

A blackout Roller or Roman blind works well in a main bedroom, nursery or child's room where reducing early light matters. A spare bedroom may only need privacy.

Blackout fabric blocks light through the fabric itself, but a standard blind can still allow a little light around the edges. We explain that before you choose so expectations are realistic.
