From initial online query, to Mark coming out to measure and offer advice & finally to Richard fitting blinds to eight windows, I couldn’t be happier. A professional, efficient, personable service. Would unhesitatingly recommend!

At Village Blinds and Shutters, we are incredibly proud to sponsor the Ballymena U12 Girls Rugby team. Last Friday night, under the bright lights of Ballymoney, the girls took to the field for their first game of the season, showing incredible skill, determination, and enthusiasm. Now in their second season as “Villagers,” these young athletes put on a fantastic performance, showcasing the very best of what youth rugby can offer.

The U12’s First Game of the Season

Friday night was a landmark moment for the U12 girls as they faced off against their Ballymoney counterparts in their first game of the season. The girls were full of energy and excitement as they took part in a joint training session followed by some highly competitive yet fun mini matches. For many of these young players, it was their first experience of playing a game under lights, which added to the atmosphere and excitement of the night.

As sponsors, we were thrilled to see how far these girls have come in such a short time. This is now our second season as part of the BRFC family, and their confidence on the pitch is growing with every game. Their ability to work together as a team, support one another, and stay focused throughout the game was truly impressive.

Building Confidence and Teamwork One Game at a Time

One of the most rewarding aspects of supporting the U12 girls team is watching how rugby helps these young players develop both on and off the field. Rugby is a sport that builds confidence, resilience, and teamwork—qualities that will serve these girls well, not only in sport but in all areas of their lives.

  • Teamwork: Rugby requires each player to work together with their teammates, relying on trust and communication to achieve success. The U12 girls have clearly embraced this, demonstrating a strong sense of unity and support for each other on the field.
  • Confidence: Playing rugby is a great way for young girls to build their self-esteem. On Friday night, the U12s showed no fear as they took on their opponents, tackling with determination and driving the ball forward with confidence.
  • Leadership: Even at such a young age, the U12s are beginning to show leadership qualities, taking ownership of their roles on the field and encouraging their teammates. It’s inspiring to see how they are growing not just as players but as individuals.

The Value of Rugby for Young Girls

Rugby is a sport that offers so much more than just physical fitness. For young girls like our U12 team, it teaches important life skills such as discipline, respect, and perseverance. Whether they are tackling, passing, or running with the ball, these girls are learning the value of hard work and dedication.

  • Physical Fitness: Rugby is a physically demanding sport that helps young players develop strength, speed, and endurance. The U12 girls showed great stamina during their matches on Friday night, demonstrating that they are growing stronger with each training session and game.
  • Resilience: Rugby teaches players how to bounce back from challenges, whether it’s recovering from a tough tackle or regrouping after a missed pass. The U12 girls displayed real resilience on the pitch, showing that they can face challenges head-on and keep moving forward.
  • Respect: Respect is a core value of rugby, and the U12s are learning how to show respect for their teammates, coaches, opponents, and referees. This respect is something that will carry over into other aspects of their lives, helping them become well-rounded individuals.

A Bright Future Ahead for BRFC Women and Girls Section

Friday night’s match was just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting season for the U12 girls. As sponsors, we are incredibly proud of their progress and are looking forward to seeing how they continue to develop as a team. The bond they are forming as teammates is something truly special, and we are confident that this group of girls will go from strength to strength in the months to come.

The friendly competition and camaraderie between the Ballymena and Ballymoney teams were also a highlight of the evening. Despite the competitive nature of the matches, there was a real sense of sportsmanship and mutual respect between the two sides. The U12s not only played great rugby but also made new friends, which is what makes youth sport so special.

A Special Thanks to the BRFC Coaches

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the coaches who have worked tirelessly to help the U12 girls reach this point. Their guidance, encouragement, and dedication have been instrumental in the development of the team. Coaches from both Ballymena and Ballymoney provided excellent support during Friday night’s session, ensuring that the girls felt confident and prepared.

The role of the coach is vital in helping young athletes grow, and the positive impact these coaches are having on the U12 girls is clear to see. We are grateful for their hard work and commitment to making rugby a positive and enriching experience for all the players.

Looking Forward to More Matches Ahead This Season

As the season continues, we are excited to see what the future holds for the U12 girls. Their first game has set the tone for what promises to be a season filled with fun, learning, and great rugby. We look forward to cheering them on from the sidelines and celebrating their successes, both on and off the pitch.

At Village Blinds and Shutters, we believe in the power of sport to inspire and empower young people, and we are honoured to be part of the journey of these talented young athletes. We can’t wait to see the Ballymoney girls visit Ballymena for a return fixture and watch our U12s shine once again.
