Made-to-measure Day and Night blinds fitted in a Northern Ireland home
Made-to-measure Day & Night Blinds

Day & Night Blinds. Light and privacy, aligned around the room.

Day & Night blinds combine alternating sheer and opaque fabric bands so you can adjust daylight and privacy without raising the blind completely. Choose the fabric, colour, fascia and operating method around the way you actually use the room.

Made-to-measure Day & Night blinds with adjustable fabric bands for flexible light, privacy and everyday control.

Why choose Day & Night blinds?

One blind. Two layers of fabric. Far more control.

Day & Night blinds are designed around alternating sheer and opaque bands. By moving the fabric layers against one another, you can change the balance between incoming daylight and privacy, while keeping the blind lowered at the window.

01

Flexible daylight

Align the sheer bands to allow more daylight through while the blind remains lowered.

02

Adjustable privacy

Overlap the opaque bands when you want greater privacy and stronger screening at the window.

03

Contemporary finish

Horizontal banding gives Day & Night blinds a clean, architectural look that works particularly well in modern interiors.

04

Excellent for motorisation

Day & Night blinds are well suited to powered control on suitable windows, especially across larger glazing or several blinds.

Choose around the result you want

What matters most at this window?

Day & Night blinds can be adjusted to give very different results at the same window. Start with the outcome that matters most.

For rooms where you want useful privacy control without losing the daylight

Open the bands and let more natural light through.

When the sheer sections align, daylight can pass through the fabric while the blind remains lowered. It gives you a softer, more flexible alternative to simply having the blind fully up or fully down.

Good for Living rooms, dining rooms and open-plan spaces where natural light still matters.
Think about The amount of outward view you want, window orientation and how privacy changes after dark.
Build the Day & Night blind around the room

The fabric bands are only one part of the finished Day & Night blind.

Colour matters, but so do the balance between sheer and opaque fabric, privacy, the appearance of the fascia and how you want the blind to operate every day.

01 · Fabric

Sheer and opaque bands working together.

Day & Night fabric uses alternating translucent and opaque sections. The look and level of screening vary by collection, colour and how the bands are positioned.

  • Alternating sheer and opaque bands
  • Different levels of light filtering
  • A wide choice of colours and textures
  • Samples shown in your own room
02 · Colour & design

Keep the bands subtle — or make them part of the architecture.

Day & Night blinds can blend quietly with the room or create a stronger horizontal feature across the glazing. Seeing the fabric beside your walls and furnishings is much more useful than choosing from a screen.

  • Neutral and statement colours
  • Sheer and opaque band combinations
  • Light and darker fabric tones
  • Samples shown in your own room
03 · Fascia & finish

Finish the blind properly at the top of the window.

Fascia options cover the headrail and can be coordinated with the fabric, window frames or wider interior. On larger Day & Night installations, that detail becomes an important part of the overall finish.

  • Fascia options
  • Coordinated or contrasting finishes
  • Manual operation
  • Motorised operation on suitable systems
Important if room darkening matters

Day & Night blinds are not the same as a blackout blind.

Overlapping the opaque bands gives stronger screening and reduces incoming light, but the Day & Night construction is designed primarily for flexible light and privacy control rather than complete darkness. If a darker bedroom is the priority, tell us at the home appointment so we can compare the most suitable blind options for the whole window.

Motorised Day & Night blinds

One touch can change the whole room.

Day & Night blinds are especially well suited to motorisation. It is a practical upgrade when the glazing is large, the blinds are hard to reach, several blinds need to move together or you simply want everyday light control to feel effortless.

01
Simple everyday control Raise, lower and position suitable Day & Night blinds using the chosen control system rather than operating each blind manually.
02
Useful across larger schemes Motorisation becomes particularly valuable where several blinds form part of one wall of glazing or one room.
03
Smart-home options Compatible Somfy systems can support app and voice control when the necessary additional equipment is specified.
04
Power options considered with the project The most suitable motor, control and power arrangement depends on the blind sizes, layout and how you want to use them.

Village Blinds and Shutters is a Somfy Certified Expert. App or voice-control functions may require compatible Somfy equipment such as a hub and are confirmed as part of the specification.

Day & Night blinds in real homes

Day & Night blinds can feel completely different depending on the fabric, finish and room.

Look at how the banding, colour, fascia and scale of the blind relate to the rest of the room. That is more useful than choosing a fabric in isolation.

Day & Night Blinds FAQ

Useful answers before you choose.

The final fabric and operating system depend on the room and window, but these are the key questions worth understanding first.

Are Day & Night blinds suitable for bedrooms?
Yes, particularly where flexible privacy and light control are more important than complete darkness. Day & Night blinds are not a true blackout treatment, so if a very dark bedroom is the priority we can compare other suitable options at the appointment.
Can Day & Night blinds be motorised?
Yes. Day & Night blinds are well suited to motorisation. Suitable systems can be operated using the chosen control method, with compatible Somfy app or voice-control options available when the required additional equipment is included.
How do Day & Night blinds control light and privacy?
The fabric uses alternating sheer and opaque horizontal bands. Aligning the sheer bands allows more daylight through; overlapping the opaque bands gives greater screening and privacy. The exact effect varies with the chosen fabric, room lighting and time of day.
Are Day & Night blinds the same as Aura blinds?
Yes. Aura is the name we use for our Day & Night blind range. The product uses alternating sheer and opaque horizontal fabric bands to give adjustable light and privacy control.
Can I add a fascia to Day & Night blinds?
Fascia options are available and can be used to cover the headrail for a more finished appearance. Available colours and styles depend on the chosen Day & Night system and fabric.
Do Day & Night blinds meet child-safety requirements?
Our Day & Night blinds are supplied to meet applicable internal-blind child-safety requirements. The operating method and installation are considered as part of the specification, and further information is available on our Child Safety page.
Do you measure and fit Day & Night blinds across Northern Ireland?
