Minimalist maximalism is a growing interior design trend that combines the best of both worlds: the clean, uncluttered aesthetic of minimalism and the bold, expressive flair of maximalism. This style is about creating balance—pairing functional simplicity with curated statements of colour, texture, and unique decor. It’s a nuanced design approach that celebrates individuality while maintaining a sense of harmony.

Minimalist Maximalism: Bold Home Design Trends for 2025

In this blog, we’ll explore how to incorporate minimalist maximalism into different rooms, which colours and styles suit this trend, and how to execute it successfully.

1. Minimalist Maximalism in the Living Room

Why It Works

The living room often serves as the heart of a home, making it an ideal space to experiment with this style. Combining statement furniture with a neutral palette allows you to create a room that’s both functional and visually captivating.

Colours and Style

  • Base Colours: White, beige, or soft greys to keep the space calm.
  • Accent Elements: Jewel tones like emerald green or sapphire blue used sparingly in cushions, rugs, or artwork.
  • Style: Mid-century modern pieces paired with sculptural decor.

How to Achieve It

Keep the overall layout clean and uncluttered but add one or two statement pieces—like a bold abstract painting or a velvet sofa in a rich hue. Use textures like wood, marble, or woven fabrics to add depth without overwhelming the space.

2. Minimalist Maximalism in the Bedroom

Why It Works

The bedroom is a place of rest, making it essential to balance comfort with striking design elements. This trend allows you to showcase personal style while maintaining a serene atmosphere.

Colours and Style

  • Base Colours: Muted pastels or deep neutrals like charcoal or taupe.
  • Accent Elements: Bold patterns or metallic finishes in lighting fixtures and throws.
  • Style: Scandinavian-inspired furniture with luxurious fabrics like velvet or linen.

How to Achieve It

Stick to a calm colour scheme for walls and bedding but add a dramatic element such as a patterned headboard or metallic bedside lamps. Layer textures with cosy throws, cushions, and rugs.

3. Minimalist Maximalism in the Kitchen

Why It Works

Kitchens are increasingly becoming design focal points, and minimalist maximalism offers a way to keep them functional while adding personality.

Colours and Style

  • Base Colours: White or light grey cabinetry for a clean look.
  • Accent Elements: Contrasting kitchen islands in bold colours like navy or black, paired with statement lighting.
  • Style: Sleek hardware with pops of artistic flair in backsplash tiles or decor.

How to Achieve It

Opt for clean lines and hidden storage to maintain a minimalist foundation. Add one standout feature, like a patterned backsplash or bold pendant lighting, to inject maximalist charm.

Tips for Successful Minimalist Maximalism

Village Blinds and Shutters Home Appointments FAQ

Our design consultant will arrive at the agreed time slot and ask you questions about your requirements and style preferences to help understand your project. They will measure your windows and discuss fabric/material options and provide you with a quotation based on your choices.

Depending on your requirements, a home appointment can take from 30 minutes for 1-10 blinds, to 60 minutes for 10+ blinds or window shutters. Our design consultant will work at your pace and we’re happy to stay longer to talk through your options and provide advice if you’d like.

We would ask ahead of the home appointment that you have arranged clear access to the window areas being measured and that any obstructing furniture or breakables near the windows are removed.

Once the windows are in, plastering has been completed and any tiling or skirting or architrave that might be close to the blinds has been installed. This will allow our design consultant to take accurate measurements.

Usually, our design consultant will be able to provide you with your quotation during your appointment.  Sometimes for some very bespoke projects pricing can take a little longer. If you haven’t heard back within 24 hours, give them a call or email and they will keep you updated.

Our production team work tirelessly to craft every single blind and shutter for our customers individually. Lead in times can vary depending on factors such as material availability and our production schedule. That being said we will always work to get your order as quickly as possible. Ask your design consultant for an up-to-date lead time estimate.
