A Riverside Dream: How We Transformed This Open Plan Home with Stunning Blinds
We are thrilled to share with you one of our most recent new build projects in Coleraine, where we had the pleasure of working with a customer who had a clear vision for their dream home. This amazing open plan space features full-height glazed walls that let in plenty of natural light and offer a breath taking view of the river. The vaulted ceiling also has several large roof windows that add to the brightness and spaciousness of the area.
But how do you create a cosy and comfortable atmosphere in such a modern and minimalist setting? How do you divide the space into different zones without compromising the flow and harmony? Vision Fabric: A Dramatic Backdrop for Your Open Plan Decor
One of the challenges of this project was to find a fabric that would provide adequate shading for the glazed walls, but also enhance the beauty of the furniture and the river view. We suggested a Ebony Vision roller fabric, which is a dark translucent material that creates a striking contrast with the light and airy interior.
When closed, the Vision fabric acts as a backdrop for the furniture pieces, making them stand out and adding some drama to the space. It also helps create a more intimate feel in the lounge, kitchen and dining areas, while still allowing some light to filter through and keeping the view visible.
Day Night Blinds: The Ultimate Solution for Privacy and Style
For the front of the home, where privacy was more important, we recommended Aura Blinds, (also called Day Night Blinds), in Antarctic Black across the open plan area. This fabric has a similar tone to the Ebony Vision fabric, but with bold horizontal bars of colour that create a sleek and architectural look. The Day Night Blind allows you to adjust the amount of light and privacy you want by alternating between sheer and opaque sections. You can also match it with any colour scheme or style, as it comes in a variety of colours and patterns. The customer also chose the same Day Night Blinds for the bedroom suites, along with additional black-out rollers for extra room darkening.
Roof Windows: A Seamless Blend with the Ceiling
Another requirement from the customer was to have blinds for the roof windows that would blend in with the ceiling when closed. They wanted to enjoy the sky view when they wished, but also have the option to block out the light completely when needed. We achieved this by using a white blackout fabric that matched the ceiling colour perfectly. The result was a smooth and seamless transition from the ceiling to the blinds, making them almost invisible when closed.
